Graphical DictionaryOne of the most interesting dictionaries on the Web is one produced by Princeton University's WordNet and Visuawords. While it is not limited to ornithological terms, and missing a few 'bird terms' we wold like to see, we think the graphical presentation is excellent and useful. It produces diagrams reminiscent of a neural net. It helps the user learn how words associate. We hope to be able to add additional terms in the future. Search the Birdziila VisuWords Dictionary. The dictionary will open in a new window. Try searching on the word 'bird' or 'wing' to see how it works. Click and drag to move the graphics around. Click on word to see a brief definition. Avoid using plurals.
WordNet® is a large lexical database of English. Nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs are grouped into sets of cognitive synonyms (synsets), each expressing a distinct concept. Synsets are interlinked by means of conceptual-semantic and lexical relations. VisuaWords is a graphical front end to the WordNet database.
